We popped in here for one night with our dog whilst driving home to Scotland. I'd honestly say that the entire experience was perfect! The staff were all lovely, the room was extremely comfortable, quiet and well appointed and they go above and beyond to accommodate dogs. I can't recommend Westmorland Hotel highly enough - it's brilliant!

Review of Westmoreland Hotel, Tebay Rating: 8.8/10 Arrival Experience: 8/8 Upon arrival, we were pleasantly greeted by friendly and helpful staff. Although we encountered some difficulty finding a room on the website, the team was efficient in securing a reservation for us over the phone. Facilities: 9/8 The hotel boasts bright, modern rooms that are well-equipped for a comfortable stay. We appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as two dog bowls and a breakfast dog biscuit for our furry friend. The provision of dog towels at the entrance was a fantastic bonus, making it easy to clean up after walks. We also enjoyed the delicious food from the snack menu, which was brought to our room. Cleanliness: 9/8 The hotel was exceptionally clean, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere throughout our stay. Sleep Quality: 6/8 While the bed was comfortable and the blackout curtains ensured a dark room, we did experience some disturbances in the early morning due to the noise from opening and closing doors. The room also became a bit stuffy, so I recommend bringing a small fan for added comfort. If traveling with small children, consider bringing a plug-in night light. Breakfast Experience: 6/8 The breakfast offered a good selection of cereals, juices, and yogurts, and the locally sourced cooked breakfast was excellent. However, there were some service issues; we had to remind staff about our coffee and tea order, which caused a delay. Additionally, our toast order was mixed up, and I received black pudding despite requesting the cooked option without. While these may seem like small issues, they did detract from the overall experience. Parking: 8/8 The hotel provides safe and secure parking, though the parking bays are quite narrow. We opted to park outside the designated area, which is monitored by CCTV, and felt secure doing so. Dog-Friendly Environment: 8/8 Tebay services is very accommodating for dogs, with ample green space available for walks. The hotel also features local walking routes on the notice board. I used my own map to navigate a route over local paths, but that wasn't a great success. Would I Stay Again? 8/8 Despite a few minor shortcomings, I would definitely consider returning to this hotel. It is well-positioned for travelers heading North or South and offers a lot of value and thoughtful amenities. Final Thoughts: The Westmoreland Hotel defies the typical expectations of a motorway service area hotel. The proximity to the motorway is hardly noticeable, thanks to the serene surroundings that Tebay is known for. The numerous thoughtful touches set this hotel apart from others. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and look forward to returning in the future. Overall Score: 62/64 (96.8%)

Lovely Hotel, great location and beautiful area. Staff are very friendly and there is a feel good factor about this place. Only slight criticism is the small cups in the bedroom and tiled floor, no carpet, no tissues, but I would come back.

Great location on the M6 for either north or south bound travel. Rooms and beds are comfortable. It’s great they are dog friendly and I always make a point of staying here enroute home.

I love this place! The rooms are really well planned - everything works - decent lighting, USB ports that work, a socket for the hairdryer close to a mirror, a decent shower. Everyone is friendly and welcoming and for us the location is perfect for an overnight stop on our way to and from Scotland. Also, the cooked breakfast is exceptional.

I stopped here to break up a journey when I ran out of spoons. The staff were so kind - they found me a room that, while not accessible, was accessible *enough* for me. They helped me get my stuff from the car, even allowed me to have dinner in my room so I didn't have to tackle the dining room. And the food was FANTASTIC. The only niggle, accessibility-wise, is the entrance. It's quite a hill from the car park to the door, and the tactile paving makes it even more tricky to navigate as a manual wheelchair user. But that's hardly the fault of the staff, who were all beyond kind and helpful

A wonderful stay, i felt like i was in a Christmas movie! The rooms were spacious and comfy, the main atrium was beautiful and gorgeous views. Considering it's off a motorway it felt teally connected to nature too.

The hotel was lovely. Only slight issue was that some areas of room were a bit in need of maintenance. There was a stain on carpet near coffee area and bathroom was a little tired. However overall it was very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. The lounge area was very comfortable with open fire and cozy grouped sofas. Excellent restaurant with brilliant food. Friendly, helpful staff
